- Always store mangoes in cool and dry place- If you want to ripen the mangoes you will have to keep them stored in a cool, dry and dark place. It is an age old technique to place raw mangoes in rice bags and stored in a cool and dark place. This technique ensures that you get well ripened sweet mangoes to rejoice this season.
- Frozen mangoes- When you think of preserving the mangoes drying them is the best way to keep them preserved for the whole year. You can choose well ripened mangoes peel them, slice them and keep them in the freezer. You can wrap them in aluminium foil and keep them in your freezer and you can use them for the whole year. This frozen mangoes looks and tastes like fresh mangoes.
- Mango canning- This is another way of preserving the mangoes, but for mango canning you may need to have some technical knowledge on food preservation. For mango canning, mangoes are cooked in sugar syrup until they become soft, tender and pulpy. You need to sterilize the container and store them and seal them. When they are kept in sealed jars they can be kept for a longer time.
- Dried mangoes- This is yet another way of storing mangoes for a long time. You can peel ripe mangoes, deseed and slice the flesh. These sliced pieces can be placed on wooden planks and left under the sun to dry. Once the moisture from the fruit is completely evaporated you can store them in air tight containers and use them as toppings on ice creams, salad, cereals and more. They can be eaten like that as well, as they are very sweet. You can also dry them by keeping them in freezer as well. Once the moisture is completely absorbed you can store them in air tight containers and you need not keep them in freezer as well.
