The Dos and Don’ts in Mango

Mango season is here and we see people eating mangoes and buying mangoes from the fruit vendors. I am shocked to see many new vendors have come with cartons of mangoes and set up a small stall in the all most all the nook and corners of the city. This gives us a picture of how many mangoes are being brought and consumed by the people. But do we make sure that we buy the right kind of fruit? Are we handling it in the right way? Here are some tips that you can keep in mind when you go for buying the mangoes next time.

Some Dos

  • When you go for buying the mangoes make sure that you buy mangoes that have good aroma at their stems. Never buy the mangoes that are equally yellow in colour all over as those kinds of mangoes can be chemically treated.
  • Keep the unripe mangoes in closed containers or wrap it in the hay so that it remains a slightly warm temperature. The mangoes will ripen and become more sweeter when kept at room temperature
  • Once mangoes are peeled and sliced keep them in the refrigerated if they are not consumed on the same day.
  • Always wash the mangoes thoroughly before cutting

Some of the Don’ts that you need to keep in mind are

  • Don’t go by the looks of the mangoes. As it is said ‘All That Glitters Are Not Gold.’ all the mangoes that look good won’t be good. Touch the mangoes and feel them to check if they are good.
  • Never refrigerate the mangoes that are unripe.
  • Never cut the mangoes and eat them without washing

Mango is a seasonal fruit and when mango seasons arrive, we all want to taste them so just keep these things in mind when you buy and eat mangoes. The demand for mangoes has increased and also the chemical ripening, always buy mangoes from reliable vendors only. Eat and enjoy the heavenly taste of mangoes this season
